Brenda Trevethan

brenda@antarcticamedia.com

Known to her close friends as "Render" Trevethan she has a fascination with 3D rendering and computer graphics. However, she is equally at home on a variety of musical instruments as she is with a graphics tablet and dual 21" monitors.

Her musical career began in grade school with the clarinet and later she won a scholarship to study music at Edinboro University in northwestern Pennsylvania. She studied clarinet under David Sublette and soon found herself involved with a multitude of other instruments including bari sax, bass clarinet, flute and piano. Realizing that the academic world was not for her, she began learning the saxophone, starting out first on alto, then tenor and finally soprano. This lead to a long stint of performing in various local and regional rock bands.

In 1987 she moved to Nashville (after finding out that there was more than just country music there) and began to get involved with musical composition via computer. She has written many electronic pieces of her own as well as collaborating on the Pole Shift project contributing clarinet, flute, sax and piano. Currently she is writing and recording with the eclectic, all-acoustic Tree House with John Trevethan and Tim Buchanan.

It was through her introduction to the computer via music that Brenda became interested in computer graphics. Eventually she put together a graphic design system based around a Macintosh Blue & White G3 computer. Although she enjoys creating websites, animations or graphics for print output her favorite area is 3D rendering in Bryce 4. To see several examples of her work use the Graphics button below, or view the enigmatic Element 115 CD artwork.
