Mads has owned his Wave 2.3 v6 and Waveterm B since 1988. He is looking for manuals for both of them as well as sampled sounds. He works for the Danish National Broadcast corporation as a media engineer.


Jim B-Reay - ppgwave@mn.rr.com

Jim owns a Wave 2.3 and a PRKfd. He also has a Waldorf Pulse, Microwave IIxt and Access Virus. He has had several mods done to the Wave including adding heat sinks to the power supply and adding a backlight on/off switch for the LCD (cuts down the noise tremendously). He has manuals for the PRKfd, and both "Germlish" and Dominic Milano (US) produced 2.3 manuals.

Stan is a writer/producer in the Nashville area using both a very clean Wave 2 and a 2.2 with factory MIDI. He loves both of these instruments and is interested in finding some schematics for them. Stan can make EPROM copies of the operating system if anyone needs them. He has had some experience chasing down voice card problems if anyone is experiencing dead or distorted voices.

Paul recently purchased a PPG Wave 2 to replace his original 2 that was stolen. It is in 100% perfect condition, never been on the road - it came with the original bill of sale from PPG and all manuals and sales literature, tape dumps etc. His equipment list also includes a Wave 2.2 with Waveterm A, and a Wave 2.3. Originally from London, Paul is now based in Los Angeles as an electronics technician specializing in Solid State Logic consoles.

Tony is a musician and sound designer who owns a Wave 2.3 and is looking for a Waveterm B. His company, Front Room Productions, sells a CD ROM of his samples for the Kurzweil K2000 /K2500 called "Producer Series Vol.1" This ROM contains samples of synthesizers such as the PPG 2.3 , Prophet VS , Roland MKS-80 , MKS-30 , MKS-20 , Yamaha CS-80 , DX and TX .

Karsten has been a PPG user since 1982 and owns a 2.2 upgraded to 2.3 (modified with special sync capabilities) and a modified WaveTerm A to B with 5 1/4 " drives. He has met Wolfgang Palm several times and had good contact with PPG in the 80's. Visit his Forced Media website.

Dave spent quite some time some years ago trying to link a PPG Wave2.3 onto his PC then programming using C++ and assembler to achieve a similar terminal to his Waveterm-B. It worked although as PCs got faster, the more problems he began to have with the interface cards. On the programming side he had included a couple of pages for Fourier transforms where a waveform could be converted back into it's harmonics. He also provided provision for stereo wavetables. Thomas has been using his PPG system since 1991 . He owns a Wave 2.2 with 2.3 V6 upgrade, Waveterm B, PRKfd without the keyboard, which was possibly a one off for a well known german electronic musician, Microwave with Access programmer and Microwave II . He has manuals for Waveterm A (German), Waveterm B (German), Wave 2.3 (by Milano), PRKfd (German) . He also has the whole original library of software discs from PPG . Thomas has been doing music for over 15 years and has started releasing his own material in 1991 . Today he is doing his high profiled labels Trope Recordings and A.F.U. Music and is also working together with Force Inc and Mille Plateaux in Germany . Thomas has been a collector of electronic instruments (mainly analogue) for over ten years now, including modular and rare items. He is willing to provide information and help.

Michael owns two Wave 2.3s has all of the Waveterm B 5 1/4" sample disks and would like to sample them into ProTools/SDII. He also has all of the manuals, data casettes, and lots of his own 2.3 sounds in Emulator III format and would like to find a Waveterm B. He would be grateful to have an instruction manual and technical plans for the sequencer if there are some. 1 sequencer is reacting in an very odd way... This synth was bought from Patrick Mimran. Serge was the manager of the now defunct labels Badland records and ARTGALLERY and was also the former founding member of Lightwave.

Henrik is a musician and currently owns a Wave 2.3, Waveterm B and a PRKfd. He previously owned a Wave 2.2 and a 2. He also owns a Waldorf Microwave. Also, he has nearly all of the Waveterm disks, different OS disks for the PRKfd, German and English manuals for the Waveterm, PRKfd, and PRKfd Midi sequencer. He is looking for older Waveterm software as well as the Germlish Wave 2.3 manual.

Additionally, Paul is a musician and technician who specializes in building custom synth modules. He has created a 1v/oct module which has 127 waveforms from the wave 2.2 on. He is in the process of building a Monophonic wave synthesiser (with midi) and then will be building a polyphonic version useing a Waveterm type front end but with a few extras like 8 stage envelopes and the ability to mix (in realtime) between 8 wavetables per osc (2 osc's per voice). Seiji is a Japanese recording engineer/producer and has a Wave 2.3 and Waveterm B. He also makes some interesting PPG related products such as the Wave Capture which is a Waveterm to Macintosh interface that converts the Waveterm's samples to SDII files. He is also in the process of making the Virtual PPG - PPG Communication Bus Interface for Mac. John is a musician with a passion for synths, especially German synths, and most of all PPGs. He is located in the West Midlands of UK and owns a PPG Wave 2.3 upgraded to V6 software, Waveterm B and a PRK with all voice cards. He also has the Reformat disks to load the Waveterm B as an A. John has a broken Wave 2.2 and is looking for help with getting it repaired. John also owns a Waldorf Wave.

Tom has good news for users in need of PPG service, he writes: "Along with my friend Jeff we are happy to provide PPG service too. We are operating as Synth Services here in Maryland. The web site is www.synthservices.com. We try to provide 1 to 2 week turnaround time on all repairs."

"Also - remind folks to check their NiCad batteries in their PPG periodically becasue eventually they will start to leak and the battery acid can do some damage. We can do a simple mod that replaces the NiCad with a Lithium battery so that you don't have to keep the PPG powered up periodically to remember the patches. You don't even need to send the whole PPG to us, just one circuit board."

Stefan Robbers is a musician and procuder who put out music under the names Terrace, Acid Junkies and Florence. He also mainatins a record label called 'Eevo Lute Muzique' which has 7 artists on it. Stefan (and the other artists involved) use a PPG 2.3 V6, a Waveterm A, and a Waldorf uWave as well. Currently they are looking to expand the PPG system with a PRK or EVU.

Werner is a software engineer (by profession) and musician who started to work with synthesizers in mid 70's. He lives in Switzerland and has been a PPG freak since that time. His first PPG was a Wave 2.2 (V4) now upgraded with MIDI to V6, and he added a TERM A with 8" floppies later. He currently owns a Wave 2.0, 2.2 and 2.3, one EVU and a WaveTerm A (8") and additionally uses a 2nd Wave2.3, a PRK FD, WaveTerm B and 2 EVUs (one without MIDI). His PPG equipment is set up as two systems, linked by MIDI and Rythm SYNC as follows. SYSTEM A: Wave 2.2, EVU V3, WaveTerm A / SYSTEM B: 2x Wave 2.3, 2x EVU V3, PRK FD, WaveTerm B (just working on running EVU 2 in the system).


Peter Schwartz - ?

Peter is a studio musician/arranger/producer/sound designer in NYC. He has a PPG 2.2 and Waveterm A with 5.25" disk drives. Several years ago Peter made the PPG sounds for the Korg M1ex and T1 sound ROMs. He is interested in trading sounds on 5.25" disk with other PPG owners.

Marc is a producer & composer in France who has been working with PPG since the early 80's. ...He even began on an 360 system. After his 2, 2.1, and 2.2 working phases he still owns a 2.3. Usuallyhe works with a Synclavier 9600 and Kurzweil K2500. After many recording experiences under different pseudos on major labels in Europe and Canada marc has specialized in Sound Design for ON AIR promotions especially in Germany.
